ST.THERESA OF AVILA,A.D.{MEMORIAL} {PS WK 4}

     FIRST READING
A reading from the letter of st.Paul to the Galatians (4:22-24,26-27,31-5:1)
Brethren: It is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave and one by a free woman. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, the son of the free woman through promise. Now this is an allegory: these women are two covenants. One is from mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written,"rejoice,o barren one who does not bear;break forth and shout, you who are not with labour pains;for the desolate has more children than she who has husband." So, brethren, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman. For freedom Christ has set us free;stand fast therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

     GOSPEL
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke (11:29-32)
At that time: When the crowds were increasing, Jesus began to say,"This generation is an evil generation;it seeks a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah became a sign to the men of Nineveh, so will the son of man be to this generation. The queen of the south will arise at the judgement with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater is here. The men of Nineveh will arise at the judgement with this generation and condemn it;for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here."

Praise be to you Lord Jesus Christ.

       WEEKDAY MASS {27} {PS WK 3}

     FIRST READING
A reading from the letter of st Paul to the Galatians (3:7-14)
Brethren: you see that it is men of faith who are the sons of Abraham, and the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying,"in you shall all the Nations be blessed". So then, those who are men of faith are blessed with Abraham who had faith. For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse;for it is written,"cursed be every one who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law,and do them".Now it is evident that no man is justified before God by the law;for "He who through faith is righteous shall live",but the law does not rest on faith, for he who does them shall live by them".Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us-for it is written,"cursed be everyone who hang on a tree" - that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith.
     The word of the Lord.
     Thanks be to God.

     RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm111:1b-2.3-4.5-6(R.5b)
R. He keeps his covenant ever in mind. Or. Alleluia
1. I will praise the Lord with all my heart,in the meeting of the just and the assembly. Great are the works of the Lord, to pondered by all who delight in them. R.
2. Majestic and glorious his work;his justice stands firm forever. He has given us a memorial of his wonders. The Lord is gracious and merciful. R.
3. He gives food to those who fear him;keeps his covenant ever in mind. His mighty works he has shown to his people by giving them the heritage of nations. R.

     ALLELUIA.   John 12:31b-42
Alleluia. Now shall the ruler of this world be cast out, says the Lord; and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.Alleluia.

     GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (11:15-26)
At that time:{when Jesus had cast out a demon,}some of the people said,"He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the Prince of demons";while others,to test him, sought from him a sign from heaven. But he,knowing their thoughts, said to them,"Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and house falls upon house. And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul,by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if it is by the finger of God that I cast, out demons, then  the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace; but when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him,he takes away his armour in which he trusted, and divides his spoil. He who is not with me is against me,and he who does not gather with me scattts."When the unclean spirit has gone out of a man,he passes through waterless places seeking rest; and finding none he says,'I will return to my house from which I came'. And when he comes he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and brings seven other spirits morw evil than himself, and they enter and dwell there;and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first."
     The gospel of the Lord.
     Praise to you,Lord Jesus Christ.

     FIRST READING
A reading from the letter of St Paul to Galatians (3:1-5)
Oh! Foolish Galatians!who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? Let me ask you only this; Did you receive the spirit by works of the law,or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun with the spirit, are you now ending with the flesh? Did you experience so many things in vain?- if it really is in vain. Does he who supplies the spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law,or by hearing with faith?
     The word of the Lord.
     Thanks be to God.

     RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Luke1:69-70.71-72.73-75(R.68)
R. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited his people.
1. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old. R.
2. That he would be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us, to perform the mercy promised to our fathers.and to remember his holy covenant. R.
3. The oath which he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us that we,being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear,in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life. R.

     ALLELUIA  Acts 16:14b
Alleluia. Open our hearts,o Lord, that we may give heed to the words of your son. Alleluia

    GOSPELGOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (11:5-13).
At that time:Jesus said to his disciples,"which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him,'Friend lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has arrived on  a journey, and I have nothing to set before him;and he will answer from within,'Do not bother me;the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything'? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs. And I tell you,Ask,and it will be given to you;seek, and you will find, knock, and it will be be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. What father among you,if his son asks for a fish, will instead of fish will give him a serpent; or if he asks for some egg, will give him scorpion? If you then, you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly father give the holy spirit to those who ask him!"

Amen.

     FIRST READING
A reading from the letter of st.Paul to the Galatians (2:1-2,7-14).
Brethren:After fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.I went up by revelation; and I laid before them (but privately before those who were of repute) the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, lest somehow I should be running or had run in vain. But on the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised( for he who worked through Peter for the mission to the circumcised worked through me also for the Gentiles), and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to the pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised;only they would have us remember the poor, which very thing I was eager to do.  But when Cephas came to Antioch I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For before certain men came from James, he ate with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. And with him the rest of the Jews acted insincerely, so that even Barnabas was carried away by their insincerity. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all,"if you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?"
     The word of the Lord.
     Thanks be to God.

     RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm 117:1.2(R. Mark16:15)
R.  Go into the world and preach the gospel. Or:  Alleluia.
1. O praise the Lord, all you nations;acclaim him,all you peoples! R.
2. For his merciful love has prevailed over us;and the Lord's faithfulness endures forever. R.

     GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (11:1-4)
Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him,"  Lord, teach us to pray,as John taught his disciplwdisciples." And he said to them,"when you pray, say:" Father, hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come. Give us  each day our daily bread;and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is incepted to us;and lead us not into temptation."

     FIRST READING
A reading from the letter of St.Paul to the Galatians (1:13-24)
Brethren: you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the Church of God violently and tried to destroy it;and I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and he called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his son to me,in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who where apostles before me,but I went away into Arabia; and again I returned to Damascus. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas, and remained with h fifteen days. But I saw none of the other apostlesapostles except James the Lord's brother. (In what I am writing to you, before God,I do not lie!) Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia. And i was still not known by sight to the churches of Christ in Judea;they only heard it said,'he who once persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy'
And they glorified God because of me.
     The word of the lord.
     Thanks be to God.

     RESPONSORIAL PSAM
Psalm139:1-3.13-14.15(R.24b)

1. O lord, you search me and you know me.you yourself know my resting and my rising; you discern my thoughts from afar.you mark when I walk or lie down;you know all my ways through and through. R.
2.  For it was you who formed my inmost being, knit me together in my mother's womb
I thank you who wonderfully made me;how wonderful are your works, which my soul knows well!. R.
3.  My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being fashioned in secret and moulded in the depths of the earth. R.

Alleluia. Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it. Alleluia.

     GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke(10:38-42).
At that time:Jesus entered a village;and a woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said,"Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me." But the Lord answered he," Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; one thing is needful.Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her."
     The gospel of the Lord.
     Praise to you,Lord Jesus Christ.

     FIRST READING
A reading from the letter of st paul to Galatians(1:6-12)
Brethren:I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of christ and turning to a different gospel-not that there is another gospel, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we,or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you,let him be accursed. As we have said before,so now I say again,if any only is preaching you to a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed. Am I now seeking favour of men,or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still pleasing men,I should not be a servant of Christ. For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not man's gospel. For I did not receive it from man,nor was I taught it,but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ.

     RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm111:1b-2.7-8.9 and 10c(R-5b)

1. I will praise the Lord with all my heart,in the meeting of the just and the assembly. Great are the works of the Lord, to be pondered by all who delight in them. R.

3. He has sent redemption to his people, and established his covenant forever. Holy his name,to be feared. His praise endures forever! R.

     ALLELUIA.   John 13:34
Alleluia. A new commandment I give to you, says the lord, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. Alleluia.

     GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (10:25-37)
At that time, Behold,a layer stood up to put Jesus to the test, saying," Teacher, what shall I do inherit eternal life?"He said to him,"What is written in the law? What do you read there? And he answered,"you shall love the lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind;and your neighbour as yourself."And he said to him," you have answered right;do this you will live." But he,desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus,"And who is my neighbour?" Jesus replied," A man was found down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him,and departed, leaving him half dead
Now by chance a priest was going down that road;and when he saw h he passes by on the other side.So likewise a levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him,he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine!then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn,and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying,"take care of him,and what ever more you spend,I will repay you when I come back." Which of these three,do you think, proved neighbour to the man who fell among the robbers? He said,"The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him,"Go and do likewise."
     The gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

     27TH SUNDAY OF THE YEAR(B)

     FIRST READING
A reading from the book of Genesis(2:18-24)
Theme: They become one flesh
The lord said" it is not good that the man should be alone;i will make him a helper fit for him."So out of the ground the lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air,and brought them to the man to see what he would call them;and whatever man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the air,and to every beast of the field;but for the man there was not found a helper fit for him. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man,and while he slept, took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh;and the rib which the Lord God had taken from the mam he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said"This at last is the bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man."Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.
   The word of the Lord.
   Thanks be to God.

     RESPONSORIAL PSALM
psalm128:1-2.3.4-5.6(R5)
R. May the lord bless us all the days of our lives.

1. Blessed are all who fear the Lord, and walk his ways!By the labour of your hands you shall eat.you will be blessed and prosper. R.
2. Your wife like a fruitful vine in the heart of your house;your children like shoots of the olive around your table. R.
3. Indeed thus shall be blessed the mam who fears the Lord. May the Lord bless you from Zion. May you see Jerusalem prosper all days of your life!. R.
4. May you see your children's children. On Israel peace!. R.

     SECOND READING
A reading from the letter of the Hebrews(2:9-11)
Themes: "He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified have all one origin".
Brethren: We see Jesus, who for a a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honour because of the suffering of death,so that by the grace  of God he might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting that he,for whom and by whom all things exist,in bringing many sons to glory, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through suffering. For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified have all one origin. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brethren.
   The word of the Lord.
   Thanks be to God.

     ALLELUIA 1John4:12
Alleluia. If we love one another, God abidesin us,and his love is perfected in us. Alleluia.

     GOSPEL
+ A reading from the holy gospel according to Mark (10:2-16)
Theme: What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.
At that time: "Pharisees cane up and in order to test Jesus asked,"Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"He answered them,"What did Moses command you?" They said,"Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away." But Jesus said to them," For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation,'God.made them male and female.' For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. What thereGod has joined together, let no man out a under."And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter and he said to them,"Whoever divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery against her;and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery. And they were bringing children to him,,that he might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it he was indignant and said to them,"Let the children come to me,do not hinder them;for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly,I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it." And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.

Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

     FIRST READING
A reading from the Job(42:1-3,5-6,12-17).
Then Job answered the lord:" I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.who is this that hides counsel without knowledge? Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me,which I did not know.I had heard of you by hearing of the ear,but now my eye sees you;therefore i despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes." And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning;and hr had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels,a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she donkeys. He had also seven sons and three daighters. And he called the name of the first Jemimaj;and the name of the second Keziah;and the name of the third Keren-happuch. And in all the land there were no women so fair as Jobs daughters;and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers. And after this Job lived a hundred and fourty years, and saw his sons, amd his sons'sons, four generations. And Job died,an old man,and full of days.

     GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (10:17-24)
At that time:the seventy returned with joy saying " Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!"and he said of them "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy;and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirit are subject to you;but rejoice  that your names are  written in heaven". In that same hour he rejoiced in the holy spirit and said,I thank you, father,Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to infants;yes, father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my father;and no one knows who the son is except the father,or who the father is except the son and any one to whom the son chooses to reveal him. Then turning to the disciples he said privately "Blessed are the eyes which see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it,and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it."

  FIRST READING
A reading from the book of Job(38:1,12-21,40:3-5)
The lord answered job out of the whirlwind;"Have you commanded the morning since your day began, and caused the dawn to know its place, that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth, and the wicked be skakem out of it?it is changed like clay under the seal, and it is dyed like a garment. From the wicked their light is withheld, and their uplifted arm is broken.Have you entered into the springs of the sea,or walked in the recesses of the deep?Have the gates of the death been revealed to you,or have you seen the gates of deep darkness? Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth?Declare,if you know all this.Where is the way to the dwelling of light, and where is the place of darkness, that you may take it to its territory and that you may discern the paths to its home?Youyknoa for you were born then, and the number of your days is great!then job answered the lord"Behold I am of small account, what shall I answer you?I lay my hand on my mouth.I have spoken once, and I will not answer, twice but I will proceed no further".
     The word of the Lord.
     Thanks be to God.

     GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (10:13-16)
At that time:Jesus said"woe to you Chorazin! Woe to you Bethsaida for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable in the judgement for Tyre and Sidon than for you.And you,Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven?you shall  be brought down to Hades. He who hears you hears me,and he who rejects you rejects me,and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me".
     The gospel of the lord.
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

Credo in unum Deum,
Patrem omnipotentem,factorem caeli et terrae,
Visibilium omnium et invisibilium.
Et in unum dominium jesum christum,
Filium dei unigenitum,
Et ex patre natum ante omnia saecula.
Drum de del,lumen de lumine,
Deum verum de deo vero,
Genitum,non factum,consubstantialem  patri;
Confiteor unum baptisms in remissionem peccatorum.
Et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum,
Et vitam venturi saeculi.Amen

      FIRST READING:
A reading from the book of Job(19:21-27(
Job said" have pity on me,have pity on me,o you my friends, for the hand of God has touched me!why do you like God,like God pursue me?why are you not satisfied with my flesh?oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! Oh that with an iron pen and lead they were graven in the rock for ever!for I know that my redeemer lives and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my flesh I shall see God,whom I shall see on my side, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My hearts faints within me!

     GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke (10:1-12)
At that time:the lord appointed seventy others, and send them on ahead of him,two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come.and he said to them" the harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few, pray therefore the lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest. Go your way, behold I send you out  as lambs in the midst of wolves, carry no purse,no bag, no sandals, and salute no one on the road.whatever house you enter, first say:peacene to this house"and if the don't of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him,but if not,it shall return to you.And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the labourer deserves his wages,do not go from house to house.Whenever you enter a town and they receive you,day what is set before you, heal the sick in it's and say to them ,the kingdom of God has come near to you,but whenever you enter a town and they do not not receive you,go into it's street and say,Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet,we wipe off against you, nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.I tell you,it shall be more tolerable on that day for Sodom than for that town".

               First Reading
Reading from the book of Job(9:1-12,14-16)
Job answered his friends, truly I know that is so:but how can a man be just before God?if one wish to contend with him,one could not answer him once in a thousand times. He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength who has hardened himself against him,and succeeded? He who removes mountains, and they know it not, when he over turns them in his anger, who shakes the earth out of its place, and its pillar tremble, who commands the sun,and it does not rise, who seal up the stars, who alone stretched out the heavens, and trembled the waves of the sea,who made the bear and orion the Pleiades and the chambers of the south who does great things beyond understanding, and marvelous things without number.Behold he passes by me,and I see him not,he moves on,but I do not perceive him.Behold he snatches away, who can hinder him?Who will say to him What are you doing? How then can I answer him, choosing my words with him?Though am innocent,I cannot answer him,I must appeal for mercy to my accuser. If I summoned him and he answered me,I would not believe that he was listening to my voice.
          The word of the Lord

     RESPONSORIAL PSALM

2.Will your mercy be told in the grave,or your faithfulness in the place of prediction? Will your wonders be known in the dark,or your justice in the land of oblivion?(R)

3.But I o lord, cry out to you,in the morning my prayer comes before you.why do you reject me,o lord? Why do you hide your face from me?(R)

               GOSPEL
A Reading from the holy gospel according to Luke(9:57-62).
At that time,as Jesus and his disciples were going along the road, man said to him"I will follow you wherever you go"And Jesus said to him"Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the son of man has nowhere to lay his head"To another he said follow me but he said" Lord let me first go and bury my father"but he said to him"leave the dead to bury their own dead"but as for you,go and proclaim the kingdom of God.Another said I will follow you,Lord but let me first say farewell to those at home.Jesus said to him"No one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.
